In a recent survey of over 1,500 consumers, Chadwick Martin Bailey, 
a market research firm, confirmed that,

• People who associate themselves with a brand or company through 
  online social networks are more likely, on average, to buy that brand 
  or company's products/services and recommend it to friends.
    
• Specifically, the survey found that 60% of Facebook users who are 
  fans of a brand or company are more likely to recommend the brand 
  or company to friends since they became a fan; the same is true of 
  79% of Twitter users who follow a brand or company.
    
• Meanwhile 51% of the Facebook fans and 67% of Twitter followers 
  are more likely to buy a brand or company's products since they became 
  a fan or follower.

According to new data from Hitwise, Facebook managed to beat Google in terms of visits between March 7th and March 13th, becoming the most visited website in the U.S.

Facebook reached an important milestone for the week ending March 13, 2010 and surpassed Google in the US to become the most visited website for the week.

Facebook.com recently reached the #1 ranking on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day as well as the weekend of March 6th and 7th. 
 

"The market share of visits to Facebook.com increased 185% last week as compared to the same week in 2009, while visits to Google.com increased 9% during the same time frame."

Then here's one more interesting fact: "Together Facebook.com and Google.com accounted for 14% of all US Internet visits last week."

Social Media Marketing Workshop Administered By:

Integrated marketing services provider Alterian today released the results of their seventh annual survey on social media marketing adoption.
